SSG- Special Services Group Of Pakistan Army

SSG , elite force of Pakistan Army, matching standards of Green berets and SAS and considered one of the finest special forces in the world was founded in 1956  and has around 2100 men. Since  its creation SSG commandos have taken part in many important skirmishes from 1965 war to Operation Rah e Raast in 2009. SSG has 4 battalions each having 700 men and two special companies i.e Zarrar Company (anti-terrorist) and Musa Company(under water operations) .Commandos face danger on every mission they go on and Pakistani commandos faced the same fate in 1965 when out of 120 men that landed in Kashmir to sabotage Indian ground forces only few returned. But the mission was considered a success as it gave Indian army a shock and they evacuated their aircrafts in fear of another raid.  In 1971 war SSG commandos carried out successful raids against Indian Forces. Pakistani commandos performed many successful anti-terrorist and hostage rescue missions throughout its carrier.Most recognizable of which is rescuing of 16 students from afghan terrorists. SSG commandos took part in Operation Rah e Raast in Swat. Although they suffered casualities but not before securing important objectives. Current Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani lauded the role played by SSG troops in the on going operations.
