Tennis enjoys millions of recreational players and is also a hugely popular worldwide spectator sport. No matter where u go now its hard not to see a tennis court and children taking interest. Unfortunately fate of “Pakistan Tennis “has not quite been like that of other sports.

Pakistan dominated the world squash scene for quite some time with players like Jehangir and Jansher Khan, but even with all the talent in our youth we have failed to make any waves on any level.
So what exactly is the problem and what need to be done to see our nation on the top spot ?
- Lack of high quality tournaments and exposure for players
- No sponsorship or interest from Sports governing bodies or local companies.
- Players mostly play on self finance basis and find hard to meet the financial requirements to enter many tournaments or afford equipment
- Sports Board and Tennis Federation should take more interest in youth training and talent hunting.
- Dearth of facilities : Indoor and Out door.
- Coaching Staff etc scarce and not well trained.
Players like Aisam ul Haq Qureshi have left the umbrella of Pakistan Tennis Federation to
pursue individual sucess in International tennis. He was forced to do so as he was only used for playing for Davis Cup ties which is considered the highest milestone in tennis by the PTF.
Aisam has proven it to the youth of this country of getting out and playing tennis abroad is the only way of achieving success and glory. Unless PTF and PSB take some meaningful measures the future is very gloomy for tennis fanatics.
