Adding more to the already brimming competition in the telecom industry of Pakistan, Ufone has introduced tracking of other numbers from your own handset usingsms and a simle web interface.
For a customer the first impression may be that Ufone has just delivered alot of power right into thier hands but beware, the scheme is just a disguise for another money scabbing project of the company.
To track a person u simply have to type in the “find <number>” and send this as an sms to 2002. What normal customers would be unaware of is that the person being tracked is first asked whether or not you want to be tracked by the tracker 
. This isnt tracking!! one might as well just call or sms the other person and ask himwhere he is. Might i mention here that using this service also costs Rs 3.0 + tax… more than the cost of one call or sms.
Ufone has also manipulated this service into providing other seemingly powerful services such as buisness tracking(tracking employees), family tracking, and notifying if friends are in the vicinity. You can find further details here.

Dont agree to you man,,,yu make it seems as if its NOT a good thing or manipulation of sorts,,,While yu do-not realize that it is the first step to provide security to the people,,,imagine yur mobile phone getting lost,,it cud be tracked or if yu get kidnapped the parents cud go to ufone and ask for yur phone to be tracked or where was it online last time,,yu cud go on a trip and turn mobile tracking on for all of the family to increase the cohesion and security for everyone,,,think big man,,,try to accept change sometimes,,,also business tracking(tracking employees), family tracking, and notifying if friends are in the vicinity all of these things are very powerful,,consider mobile racking for a firm like TCS?? or friend tracking when yu urgently need help yu can call the closest friend to come over and family tracking,,,its just awesome,,will allow more parents to be able to give cell phones to there children,,,Think BIG

Yes shehryar, i agree with you to the point that this service is powerful, but what you failed to understand is that ufone has limited that power by letting the person being tracked decide whether to reveal his whereabouts or not. if you are going to do that, you might as well call the person instead of getting charged for this person. All the features, family tracking, buisness tracking, even the kidnapping scenario you mentioned have the same flaw i.e, why would the kidnapper tell reveal his location…. but yes if ufone does it, overriding the permission from the person being tracked, this service could be powerful, even in that case though, ufone would be invading privacy, by allowing tracking without consent. This would be against the privacy laws implemented by PTA. So either way, this service is a fake impression of power, because privacy laws won’t allow it to be implemented. because you should not be allowed to be tracked if you dont want to be and for that mutual consent between the parties is necessary. So again, my advice is, just call the other person, it’ll be cheaper
LOLS so yu are saying that because it requires consent then it is fake,,off course consent is required,,,that is why its a good thing,,, yu dont turn the tracking on and off all the time yu track someone you want to and have consent of,,,why wud yu use tracking instead of an sms or a phone call,,,???becuase it asks for consent,,,,yu get the consent prior its a good thing in my point of view and yes the privacy laws are correct too,,but i dont see those being applied in sms monitoring,,,
Also in the kidnapping scenario Ufone and the correct authorities HAVE the right to override the permissions,,and they WILL do it,,and must already BE doing it,,,what yu do not understand is that this brings the power into users hands knowing that they are being tracked,by there father for example and they can find him if he runs into some problem etc now imagine yu get stuck in some place yu get into an accident and dont know where yu are exactly,,,just call home let yur father or a friend track yu,,,so they know,,as i said its in KNOWING that yu HAVE that ability ,,,and with your CONSENT
hey shahryar, i dont know what you are talking about, from the above Zain has already pretty carefully analyzed all of the points you have mentioned till now, and now you’ve started being repetetive again!…. the thing with consent is that, if Ufone tracks the person, without approval of the proper authorities, even in the case of the kidnapping scenario, Ufone will become subject to a trial in court for having done so, which no company wants…. the rest of your points have already been explained….
