Rain And Hailstorm Hits Rawalpindi – 15th Sep 2009

by usman zahid on September 15, 2009

Tuesday, September 15th 2009 at 10:00 pm, my family decided (against my will)

Papasalis And McDonalds in Rain

Papasalis And McDonalds in Rain

to go out to Saddar, Rawalpindi for some Eid shopping. I had to go along (forcefully) as no one else was available to drive the car. The sky was clear with some light breeze blowing. The roads were over flowed by cars and by the time we managed to reach Gakhar Plaza  (rather the place where Gakhar Plaza once used to be) it started raining cats and dogs (almost literally) along with hailstorm. We decided to head back to our home considering the crazy traffic and the rain and hailstorm. It rained so heavily that within 15 minutes the roads were full of water and visibility became very low. Most of the cars were   driving with hazard lights on at approx 20 km/h. It was a hectic drive back home, nonetheless I was saved the
trouble of waiting outside in the car while my family shopped and shopped and shoppppedddd the night away!. What a wonderful weather people! Thanks to Allah for such an awsome mausum- Also people dont forget tonight is a Taaq Raat, so dont forget to pray.
Now Wednesday, September 16th 12:20 am I report this live event and thank Allah for the rain as it has surely made the hot bitter weather a bit better.
PS. People please beware of the billboards while driving as the wind was so strong that it tore off the canvas used for ads on Katchery Chowk. Also, Mall Road, Katchery Chowk and Ammar Chowk roads were flooding with water (now imagine what will be the situation of small roads!).
Sharing some pics I took on the way (dont try that while driving in such a weather ;) )
Over n Out!
