Karachi: Pakistan Navy’s first ever ‘new-build’ major frontline warship Sword/F-22P-class arrived in Karachi. Before reaching Karachi it also took part in its first exercise with other Pakistan Naval Ships and aircrafts.

This ship was already commissioned in Julythis year.

This is part of the China-Pak deal for four such ships. Two other ships have been constructed in Shanghai’s Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard but will sail to Pakistan next year. The fourth one is under construction in Karachi under TOT(Transfer Of Technology) deal.

This Frigate is equipped with 76.2mm main gun, eight C-802/CSS-N-8 Saccade anti-ship missiles, an eight-round FM-90, two hangar-top Type-730 30mm close-in weapon systems, RDC-32 anti-submarine rockets, and two triple ET-52C torpedo tubes.

Two Z-9EC helicopters have also arrived Pakistan. This helicopter provides over-the-horizon targeting for the C-802 anti-ship missiles.

This is the first time in PN history that they have acquired a a new-built ship. To date, all the acquired ships were US or GB used ones.
