article 1106082 02F46F6F000005DC 581 468x451 300x289 World's Tallest Woman : Our Shame or Pride ??

Zainab Bibi in her 30s was the tallest woman in the world with her 7 feet 2 inch stature, until being deposed by an American in 2008. She hails from Pakistan and made waves few years ago when she highlighted the abuse she faced in her homeland Pakistan. She comes from a poor family near Toba Tek Singh. She seek asylum in Britain after claiming that she was a target in her homeland as kids would throw stones at her and pull her clothes. In another incident she claimed that a guy hit her on her wrist with a stick. She was given a two year visit visa in 2006 while she was supposed to visit Britain for 15 days carrying out promotional work. She moved into a council flat and earned around 40 pounds a week. While on the other hand ,In the village of Mandi Rajana where she was born, her family and friends suggest her international recognition meant she enjoyed celebrity status whenever she returned home.

Before moving to Britain she used to earn money from appearing in Public shows, showing her height. Now as it has already been three years since she moved to Britain she says she enjoys her life there and would not want to return. She has now moved to Manchester in a free house with medical treatment being totally free and a ‘generous’ allowance.

If a country where she wasn’t even born, can give her so many benefits why would she want to return to the Pakistan?why was she treated like the way she claimed she was treated ? And what are we portraying ourselves as, in front of International media ?? Even if what she claims is not true and all she wants is a safer comfortable life in a place far away from Pakistan her homeland what would that depict ?? how pathetic our life is here in Pakistan that people would grab any opportunity to leave this place for a safer environment even if it has to be a country where she cant even communicate with the locals as she is not good in English ??

It would be pretty easier if we start blaming government for losing a ‘pride’ of our nation when in fact we ourselves are to be blamed. Plus being tallest woman in the world might seem to be a pride to us but ask those who “suffer” from it. Imagine being pointed at and used as a public display for money. All i can say is, this saga was slap in our face in losing a woman who needed our help.

The problem is, we only learn the value of something after losing it! And, she being a victim of abuse and mockery in her homeland, that’s shameful. But, it happens everyday in Pakistan, we try to be judgmental! I mean everything is funny as long as it’s happening to some one else! I’m glad she can live her life peacefully in Britain!

Thats exactly the point half of the problems we are facing these days can be dealt with only if we start improving ourselves, as humans.

not realizing talent has always been one of the problem of Pakistan. If Our media is free from the filthy politics and degrading remarks then it will give exposure to such people. Our media is just like a blind bull

In pakistan, people with no physical abnormality are treated badly and nobody reports it because such things have become part of society .

She is lucky that her height factor has actually become a blessing in disguise.Had she been normal, she would not have made it to England and gotten away with the pathetic behavior.

I hope she is safe there.
