Capt Faraz Malik Shaheed-The Pride of Pakistan

by Arouge on November 6, 2009

1418 300x196 Capt Faraz Malik Shaheed The Pride of PakistanIt was my mother’s scream that got my attention, I rushed to the lounge and saw her frantically pointing at the TV screen, I couldn’t make out what was so depressing about the report shown on ARY news, but when I heard “Capt Faraz Malik, son of Col Zafar Malik, martyred” it suddenly dawned on me what exactly had caused the commotion.

I traveled back in time; vague memories started swarming in my mind, memories of five kids playing silly games on the terrace. Was it 96 or 97, I can’t clearly pin point. Could it really be the very same Faraz bhai who used to play the king? Was it the same family that took us to the park in order to celebrate my birthday? I didn’t want to believe it of course, but the answer came when the body of the martyred was shown.

We lost contact with them after 97, was it due to my father’s postings, I can’t say. But, yesterday, seeing them on TV with their tear stained faces. That was probably not the reunion I had in mind. It was odd seeing him lifeless, his eyes that used to be so full of life, closed. But I was not seeing the old Faraz bhai, it was a martyred, a hero who laid down his life in the line of duty. He had a smile on his face, a smile which was telling the world, “Here, I did my job; I fought for my nation and shed my blood so that my country could live.”

Based on the news reports, Capt Faraz shaheed got martyred along with five other jawaans in an explosion in Sararogha. It is also believed that three days prior to his shahadat, he had texted his loved ones and told them ‘the good news of his coming shahadat’. His namaz-e-janazah was performed yesterday in Sialkot. He was given the ‘guard of honor’. Many people had come to pay respect to the shaheed and his family. May Allah give his family the patience and strength to bear this great loss!

Capt Faraz shaheed is like many other unnamed heroes who are soon forgotten, who silently pass away doing their duty. These are the names to be remembered, names to be written down in history with golden words, names that every kid in a corner should be proud of, the entire nation should be proud of them! Because how many of us have the honor of having our coffin wrapped with the nation’s flag?

So, say it loudly and say it proudly ‘Capt Faraz, you have made the nation proud!’

He was my senior at mcj. He was a guy full of life. Always perfectly dressed. That was one thing most guys used to admire about him. Had a great sense of humor. He was always full of life and he has ineed achieved something great and we should never forget his sacrifice. I hope and pray he would be in heaven by now. Ameen

He was my senior at MCJ .. i happened to meet one of his coursemate and he narrated an incident
…. once they were junior most at Military College Jehlum Sir Faraz was sleeping and suddenly in his slumber he fell off his bed and when he was asked what had happened , he said that he dreamt that he got martyred in a war and Gen Pervez Musharraf is saluting his grave …

he really was a nice man, not that he is a martyr but in reality he was a cool minded person and was never worried…

May his soul rest in peace and may he be granted esteemed and elevated stature in heavens.. Ameen

My Salute to Captain Faraz Malik (shaheed) a jovial guy and a proper gentleman who sacrificed his life for our country. All the time he was a classfellow of mine who could have imagined tht his destiny was so far above the rest of us!
This has made it real for me. For most of us have not been touched by this raging war but today i feel sad and proud at the same time. Sad tht young life has been snuffed out and proud tht i had the honour of knowing him. Wat i learned is tht all those who fight for their country are not special but they are the ones who find courage where others would buckle down.
We salute Pakistan Army.

You are right. Sacrifices make everything look real, but we are proud of Faraz bhai, and he will be remembered always for what he did. We can cherish his memories, and take pride in knowing a hero!! May God bless his soul, and give his family strength and patience.
