Modern Warfare 2 – Another Masterpiece by Infinity Wards

I am writing this review on Modern Warfare 2 (COD 6) on 6th November, 2009 whereas this game is set to be released on 10th November, 2009 worldwide. How i got it 10 days before the release and how i ended it 6 days before the release, don’t ask. I was having temperature on a weekend night and suddenly my friend called me outside. I went outside and there he was standing with a dual layer disk in his hand. He gave me so that i can check it because his console wasn’t running it. I knew my console wont run it but miraculously it did. And i became almost the first player who played COD 6 in Pakistan.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel of Call of Duty 4 Modern warfare, a masterpiece of Infinity Wards. COD 4 was a success. MW2 will be a grand success,i can bet that. It is totally mind blowing. I played gazillions of games but have never played anything so interesting like this. Game play is the same as that of COD 4 but the thing that makes it better is its link with its prequel , its story line and graphics. Modern Warfare 2 is set immediately after the conclusion of Call of Duty 4. The radical Russian Ultranationalist organization has returned under the leadership of Vladimir Makarov, a former associate of Imran Zakhaev with his own ambitions. Makarov has publicized Zakhaev’s death as an act of martyrdom to garner support for his cause, enabling him to build a strong power base in Russia over the years. Fearful of Makarov’s growing influence, the global community established Task Force 141 to counter the threat posed by the resurgent Ultra nationalists. Makarov creates the spark between US and Russia and both these countries go on war with each other.

In this game, we play with different characters. One as US Marine, one as an undercover soldier and one Sergeant Gary “Roach” Sanderson, a member of an elite, multinational commando unit known as Task Force 141. The player character in Call of Duty 4, Sergeant “Soap” MacTavish, returns as a non-playable character(playable for hardly two missions); promoted to captain in the Special Air Service, MacTavish is now the head of the Task Force and Sanderson’s superior officer. A third member of the Task Force is Ghost, a mysterious character who conceals his face with a skull-imprinted balaclava. You will experience totally different environments. From Washington streets to snowy mountains of Russia. From the caves of Afghanistan to the alleys of Brazil. Moreover there are hell of more weapons to use in this part. Like Double handed Uzis, guns equipped with thermal sensors, a bullet proof shield. Then sometimes you will have to breach a room where hostages are kept by the enemies. Also you’ll get to take control of Quad bike, boat, predator drone and even a truck. And the good thing about this game is, there are hell of twists in the story line. One can never expect what will happen the very next moment. Like i was playing and mission was to save a prisoner. And guess who was the prisoner? One and only, famous Capt Price who according to us died in COD 4 but all we saw was a guy giving him CPR. Just like the old times, we play a stealth mission with Capt Price whereas Capt MacTavish provides us cover and Predator strikes. You will also find Sgt Foely and Nikolai in MW2. It’s ending is so awesome that you will want to play it again. COD 4’s ending was dramatic but i can bet MW2’s ending is far more better than COD 4. One thing is for sure, after ending it, start waiting for the next sequel. Anyway, enough with the spoilers.

Apart from campaign, you can play in Special Ops and Multi player mode. Unlike COD 4, there are many Special Ops missions. And again unlike COD 4, multi player is a bit different. You can play as a third person too and believe me, its so cool. Then, you can have radar, ammo drop, drone strike, precision air strike and God knows what else by having kill streaks. It is also heard that MW2 is not allowing dedicated servers on PC which will be a disaster for online gamers waiting for this game. But lets not lose hope and lets wait and see what is the truth after 10th November. Even i cant believe this because i have been waiting for this for like 6 months. It is expected on PS3, 360 and Windows. I will simply rate it the best Jaw dropping game ever played by me. I cant wait to have it on my PC. Want to end it again.
